Cozy , lovely accommodations in a pretty setting
We loved coming home to our cozy Keepers Cottage with a lovely garden and view of Dunalastair Water. Often we would make a woodfire and read in the living room to our hearts content. Susan and Peter were the best hosts we’ve ever had with their kind personalities and help with any of our specific needs, like local walking maps. They were exceptional in their communications and always available with assistance. The location of the cottage was ideal for a walk up Schiehallion, McGregors Cave or visiting Kinloch Rannoch.
Lovely Cottage in Beautiful Setting
Returned again to Kennel Cottage overlooking the beautiful lodge garden. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday with Susan and Peter being very welcoming hosts. Wildlife and location always enjoyable. Watching badgers and pine martens in the evening was a highlight for us.
Blissfully quiet cottage
We stayed in Kennel Cottage which is in a fairytale setting overlooking Dunalastair Water with a forest and Schiehallion to the rear. The wildlife is so plentiful, Beatrix Potter would have felt at home here. The cottage is immaculate, comfortably furnished and every imaginable requirement is to hand. The hosts are warm, helpful and have an astonishing eye for detail so your comfort is assured.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and hope to return.
traditional cottage in beautiful location lovingly maintained by owners
Keeper’s Cottage is heaven! The number of regular returnees in the visitors’ book is already testament to its popularity. Marvellous location, between the lower slopes of the mighty Schiehallion and the great lochs of Rannoch and Tummel.
Comprehensively and thoughtfully equipped, and with friendly helpful owners Peter and Susie Churchill on hand in case of need.
We’ve been going back there for about fifteen years! Thoroughly recommended.
Perfect stay at the stables
We loved our relaxing week stay at the Stables! We went for the wildlife & weren’t disappointed, red squirrels & various birds all day, viewed right from the cottage window & plenty of red deer in the surrounding area. Pine marten & Badger at night on the trail cam.
Hosts Susan & Peter had thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible, the cottage was immaculate and fully stocked with anything you could need.
We will certainly return at some point.
Keeper's Cottage
This is an attractive old stone cottage with a beautiful well kept garden. The kitchen has everything you’re likely to need for self-catering, and the cottage boasts a high standard of cleanliness. Susie and Peter, the owners, are most welcoming and helpful.
It goes without saying that once you settle into this comfortable dwelling with its views over Dunalastair Water and surrounding forest, the walks in the Highlands are second-to-none. If you’re not as young as you used to be, and the local Munro, Schiehallion (1083m or 3553ft), seems too much of a challenge, there are many delightful low-level walks to suit all ages, or farm tracks which take you to decent heights offering outstanding views. Like me, you’ll want to return again and again – not to be missed!
Cottage for a relaxing holiday
We loved staying in Kennel Cottage with so many extra touches. The wildlife around you is amazing. We spent a lot of time watching for squirrels and pine martins as well as the wide variety of birds. We felt confident that we would have a good holiday from starting the booking process through to meeting you both when we arrived. Hope we can return soon.
Outstanding
Kennel Cottage has every comfort thought of, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Susan and Peter are fantastic hosts. Great Location, very peaceful and varied wildlife at the cottage including our first sighting of Pine Martens. Planning our return already.
Absolutely Beautiful
Kennel Cottage is perfect for a couple. On arrival we were met by our hosts Susan and Peter and showed into our accommodation. A lovely welcome tray set up with shortbread tea and coffee a pint of milk in the fridge a very nice touch. Our cottage was spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated comfortable and cosy evenings spent Infront of the log burner was bliss. Everything you could possibly need and more is in the cottage. It was lovely and peaceful sitting outside having my morning cuppa surrounded by nature. If your looking for the perfect getaway peace and tranquility then this is the place to go there was other larger capacity accomodation but it in now way affects your privacy. There’s plenty to do and see here and we genuinely hope to return to explore the area more.
Great place to stay.
The cottage is perfect. Everything you need. Stunning location, what a view from our kitchen window!! We have never seen so much varied wildlife from our doorstep before. From red squirrels, deer and sheep to a hare and a osprey. Will definitely be returning. Thank you so much.
It’s a gem!
In a word, it’s a gem. We first stayed in Kennel Cottage in 2003 and since then we’ve been keen to return regularly. Always a warm welcome from the owners Susan and Peter, and a spotlessly clean cottage that is both the cleanest and best equipped of any we’ve stayed in (and we’ve stayed in quite a number)! It has beautiful peaceful views and is surrounded by wildlife.
The location offers lots of options, from simply enjoying the scenery of the nearby lochs, walks of all kinds ranging from easy forest walks to Schiehallion mountain, or touring, including by rail to Mallaig from Rannoch station. We’re still managing to discover new places to explore.
We would recommend a stay here without any hesitation.

Keeper's Cottage Family Holiday, Number 6!!
Another amazing week in paradise! The cottage is relaxing, cosy and comfortable, with wonderful views and constant wildlife. Best equipped self catering ever. Susan and Peter are so helpful and friendly. Our 13 year old son is already planning next year’s visit as ” it gets better every year.”
We enjoyed a variety of road cycling trips, climb up Schiellion and Craig Varr, forest walks and fishing. As we’ll as just being in the cottage garden. Can highly recommend Riverside Cafe in the village and Rannoch Station Tearoom.
Fantastic holiday at the Stables
We have just had the most fantastic holiday at the Stables. The cottage , in its stunning surroundings, exceeded all our expectations and more! This place is so very special, this was our first stay, and certainly won’t be the last. The accommodation is extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean, equipped to a very high standard. Peter and Susan are lovely, perfect hosts, so welcoming, attentive but not intrusive. We saw red squirrels, deer, a hare, heard a cuckoo, and so many different birds, the gardens are delightful.
We enjoyed walking the forest trail behind the house, and along the road in each direction, also down to Bridge cottage by the water.I think this could be an artists or photographers paradise. We did go out in our car to discover the area but you could
simply relax, and rest. I had the opportunity to look at Kennel Cottage, it is lovely too. We absolutely love it here and cannot wait to return, thank you so much Peter and Susan for the most memorable holiday.

Idyllic getaway in the Highlands
Wow! Just Wow!
Susie and Peter are the most wonderful hosts. Their attention to detail is quite amazing and the cottages are very well equipped. We have stayed at all three cottages and love them all!
Hard to choose a favourite as each has it’s own special charm.
Absolutely Wonderful
I’ve had an absolutely wonderful time here at Lassintullich, The Stables. What sets this property apart from others is the contact with the owners, the informal chats I’ve had with them, the direct booking process with no outside agency involved, the personal touch that this provides, the attention to detail. The property was hygienically cleaned on my arrival, fell fresh, welcoming and with very high overall standards. I’m really impressed with the quality of the equipment in the cottage, the immaculate and clean rooms, modern fittings in kitchen and bathroom. A very cosy and warm feel to the cottage. I was here during the summer months when I didn’t need heating but there’s plenty heaters available in the cottage, which would be welcome in the colder months.
The outside area is wonderful, the sound of the birds and water from the stream – and nothing else. Very peaceful and relaxing. Wonderful views all round, great cycling on quiet roads, amazing countryside, lots of beautiful wildlife. The red squirrels come over to the outside table and are lovely to watch. You do need a car to get here and to visit the area, but that’s not a problem for most visitors. In good weather a bike trip can be as good as the car to explore. I’ve had some amazing bike rides here.
All in all, the cleanest self catering property I’ve ever stayed in. Being from Germany, I have become accustomed to high standards of cleanliness. This property meets those standards.
But above else, it’s the direct contact and very warm and friendly approach from the owners that makes you feel very welcome.
Somewhere I’d like to return! If you’re after peace and quiet, great welcome, amazing walks and bike trips and high quality, very reasonably priced accommodation, then this is perfect. Thank you very much Susan and Peter!
